While even those of us \u201con the inside\u201d don\u2019t have all the answers, there were some bipartisan perspectives from the recent State of Reform Conference that we found helpful:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/stateofreform.com\/featured\/2017\/01\/jim-capretta-repeal-delay\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Rep. Jim Capretta on Repeal and Delay<\/strong><\/a>: Capretta opened the conference by taking the audience through the latest thinking among the incoming administration and current Congressional leaders. Capretta is described as one of the more respected conservative thought leaders in the country and came to the conference from DC, reporting that repeal and delay \u201c<em>is the leading option, they are already moving forward with it, and the probability of it happening is actually pretty high<\/em>\u201d and sharing his own critique of the current plan\u2019s prospect to \u201c<em>substantially destabilize an already tenuous situation<\/em>.\u201d<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/stateofreform.com\/featured\/2017\/01\/jim-capretta-repeal-delay\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">You can hear more of the thoughts he shared here<\/a>. | <a href=\"https:\/\/www.qualityhealth.org\/bree\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/8\/2017\/01\/Changing-Political-Landscape-and-What-it-Might-Mean-for-Health-Care-Reform-Capretta-1-5-17.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">See the presentation slides here<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/stateofreform.com\/featured\/2017\/01\/leading-health-care-organizations-time-transitions\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\"><strong>Leading health care organizations through a time of transitions<\/strong><\/a>: A lunchtime keynote panel with representatives from the Council of Accountable Physician Groups (CAPG), Washington State Hospital Association (WSHA), United Healthcare, and the Governor\u2019s Office focused on the challenges and strategies of developing policies and leading healthcare organizations during times of transition. Cassie Sauer, CEO of WSHA, said \u201c<em>what goes in the replace bucket is the key piece<\/em>\u201d and that in her view, \u201c<em>the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.breecollaborative.org\/2016\/07\/05\/whyvbp\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">value-based purchasing<\/a> interest remains very strong with hospitals and that commitment to deliver high-quality care and to deliver the most efficient care is something we\u2019re very much behind. I don\u2019t think we\u2019re in a place where we want to go back to fee-for-service. Gov. Inslee touched on the important steps being made toward mental and physical health integration in Washington and reiterated to listeners, \u201c<em>The first thing I would hope people would realize \u2013 we\u2019re not powerless in this healthcare debate right now.
