My family spent a virtual holiday followed by a virtual new year\u2019s celebration with family and friends. As a community, we have shifted to virtual clinical care, wondering all the while whether we are achieving the same outcomes as an in-person visit.<\/p>\n<p>The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (our go-to source for evidence) has published two reviews for telehealth, one for\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/effectivehealthcare.ahrq.gov\/products\/telehealth-acute-chronic\/research\">Acute and Chronic Care Consultations<\/a>\u00a0and one more general review on\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/effectivehealthcare.ahrq.gov\/products\/telehealth\/technical-brief\">Mapping the Evidence for Patient Outcomes From Systematic Reviews<\/a>\u00a0along with a summary white paper\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/effectivehealthcare.ahrq.gov\/products\/telehealth-expansion\/white-paper\">here<\/a>. \u00a0The New York times\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2020\/08\/03\/health\/covid-telemedicine-congress.html\">asks whether telehealth is here to stay<\/a>\u00a0and the Seattle Times has called for\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/www.seattletimes.com\/opinion\/editorials\/make-virtual-doctor-visits-a-permanent-part-of-medicare\/\">making virtual office visits a permanent part of Medicare<\/a>. Medicare\u2019s eventual decision will go a long way in deciding policy and coverage.<\/p>\n<p>Building a community standard around telehealth clinical services is one of our priority areas this year and our workgroup is meeting for the first time this Friday at 8am.
