COAP’s Fall 2021 Webinar launched a new regional initiative in PCI and offered a best practice presentation for cardiac surgery.<\/p>\n

Jacob Doll, MD,<\/strong> interventional cardiologist at VA Puget Sound Health and UWMC, launched a new regional initiative to reduce bleeding events in PCI. Every interventional cardiologist in Washington State, plus those who work at PeaceHealth Sacred Heart in Oregon, who performed 10 or more PCIs in 2020 received an individual physician-to-physician report prior to the webinar with their individual bleeding data. Dr. Doll laid out clear goals for reducing bleeding events across the region, why that’s important, and strategies for getting there.<\/p>\n

Ashok Venkataraman, MD,<\/strong> cardiothoracic surgeon at PeaceHealth Sacred Heart in Riverbend (OR), offered a presentation on the benefits of concomitant Afib ablation surgery and the high levels of evidence for this practice from surgical societies. COAP is considering adding Concomitant Afib Ablation Surgery as a quality indicator; learn more via Dr. Venkataraman’s presentation and share your thoughts with COAP.<\/p>\n

Dr. Ziad Ali<\/strong>\u00a0is a well-recognized expert on intracoronary imaging and physiology, and faculty at Columbia University Medical Center where he serves as the Director of Intravascular Imaging and Physiology and Director of the Cardio-renal program. He also serves as the Director of the Angiographic Core Laboratory at Cardiovascular Research Foundation, and is the Global PI of the International Multicenter Randomized Controlled Trials ILUMIEN III and IV evaluating the use of the Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT) and intravascular ultrasound (IVUS) on clinical outcomes.
