The conference will again be held at The Port of Seattle Conference Center at the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport\u00a0in conjunction with the other FHCQ Clinical Quality programs.  The COAP conference will take place on Wednesday, June 12, and the OB COAP conference will take place on Thursday, June 13, 2019.<\/span><br \/>\nREGISTRATION will be available here in early Spring. Please check with your site primary contact before registering, as each site has a limited number of free registrations (these will go fast!).<br \/>\nSCOAP will be offering a variety of continuing education credits again this year. A conference agenda will also be available here in the next few weeks.<br \/>\nThe key to the success of SCOAP and Spine COAP is the active participation of member organizations.  We really need the input of surgeons, QI directors, data abstractors, and administration if we are to succeed in improving the quality of surgical care overall. If you have any questions regarding the conference, please email <a href=\"mailto:askscoap@qualityhealth.org\">AskSCOAP@qualityhealth.org<\/a>.<br \/>\n[two_third]<br \/>\n[learn_more caption =&#8221;2018 Annual Meeting&#8221;]<\/p>\n<h3>SCOAP 2018 Annual Retreat<\/h3>\n<p>The SCOAP Planning Committee would like to extend a big Thank You to those that participated in the 11th Annual SCOAP Statewide Meeting on Thursday, June 14th, at The Port of Seattle Conference Center at the Seattle-Tacoma International Airport\u00a0in conjunction with the other FHCQ Clinical Quality programs.<br \/>\nWe had a terrific agenda again this year, including a great keynote speaker, John Lauber, PhD, previously a member of the National Traffic Safety Board (NTSB) and SVP for safety worldwide at Airbus who spoke regarding lessons learned and the human factor in the airline and railroad industries with regards to safety. As well, Greg Marchand, Director of Benefits Policy and Strategy at Boeing, summarized his thoughts and priorities with regards to employees\u2019 health.<br \/>\nDrs. Rick Thirlby and Arman Dagal provided SCOAP\u2019s \u201cyear in review.\u201d Experts in the field also reviewed the latest information on smoking cessation and the opioid crisis. Dr. David Flum, in his usual inspirational way, took us on a trip looking at future SCOAP initiatives. The Spine COAP team\u2019s new leadership\u2014Medical Director, Dr. Arman Dagal, and Management Committee Chair, Dr. J.C.
